Gotta Love HG Products!

Hi everyone! I know it has been a while since my last post, but I thought that I would post up what products I have considered to be HG or holy grail. These are products that I use very often and would take with me on trips. I also wanted to post up a little background info. about my skin etc. so that you can get a better idea of what works for my skin. So...let's get started!

Skin type: Combination oily(t-zone), acne prone(break out if I use the wrong products), sensitive(anything with salicylic acid or fragrance does not work well for me) and dry

MAC reference: NW15 (yes, I have been referred to as looking ghostly...)

HG Hair Product: Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream (drugstore)
-Works well for me in place of conditioner & I like to apply it when my hair is damp

HG Peach Blush: Milani Luminous Powder Blush (drugstore)
-I use this on a daily basis when I want a peachy glow

HG Light Pink Blush: Benefit Blush in Dandelion (Sephora or Ulta)
-I like this blush because I can apply it with a heavy hand and it is still ok
-Leaves me with some subtle color (I wouldn't recommend it though for people with darker skin tones because I have heard it can look chalky)

HG Highlight: MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Candlelight
-Leaves a nice glow on my cheekbones

HG Powder: Rock & Republic Pressed Powder in Satin (discontinued)
-LOVE this powder especially during the summer season when my face is a little darker
-Does not break me out, so I will be sad when I run out of this product

HG Concealer: Amazing Cosmetics Concealer (Ulta)
-I thought I would give this product a try when it was on sale and have been using it ever since
-Gives me good coverage on blemishes and hyper-pigmentation

HG Lipsticks: Rimmel 'Airy Fairy' and NYX 'Ceto' (Drugstore and Ulta)
-Airy Fairy is a nice neutral color that helps to even out my natural lip color. It is the one lip color I will always go to and what is nice is that it is affordable!
-Ceto is also another affordable lip color, but it is warmer in color. I use it a lot during the summer. =)

HG Eyeshadows: Wet n Wild 'Nutty' and NYX 'Herb' (Drugstore and Ulta)
-Nutty is a nice taupe color that is nice for everyday wear. The shadow goes on really smoothly as well, so it makes for easy application ^^ (supposedly it is an affordable dupe for MAC's Satin Taupe)
-Herb is a pretty shimmery olive color. Again, it is one of those shadows that I can just sweep on my lids for a pop of color.

Hope this is useful for those of you that are looking for quality, reliable makeup products! Let me know if you have any questions below. I am still on the hunt for a good liquid liner and mascara. My lids get oily too, so it makes mascara hunting pretty difficult.

Happy Year of the Dragon!

Mini Summer Haul: MAC, New York & Company & Sally Beauty Supply

Happy Friday Everyone!  I was lucky enough to have a day off of work yesterday.  It was so nice & sunny outside, I decided to pay a visit to the outdoor outlet mall close to home.  While I was there, I visited a CCO (Cosmetic Company Outlet store) and New York & Company.  I could not help myself and picked up a couple items that I wanted to share.  I also went with a friend to Sally Beauty Supply earlier in the week and wanted to share what I found there as well!

From L to R:  Papaya Punch, Electric Pineapple, For Audrey & Secret Peri-Wink-Le

When I went to Sally's, the main polishes I wanted to pick up were For Audrey and Secret Peri-Wink-Le.  However, when I passed by several sale items, I found Papaya Punch and Electric Pineapple going for $1.99!  Unfortunately, I am A) attracted to bright colors B) a sucker for items on sale/deals/bargains, so I went ahead and added both to my purchases.  I'm not sure how I'm going to wear these yet, but I will definitely put up pictures of the colors when I do!

From L to R: Humid & Rosy Outlook

When I visited the mall and CCO on my day off, I found a decent selection of pretty eye shadows by MAC that were overstock from various collections.  Although I felt the urge to bring the whole shelf of shadows they had on sale home with me, the angel side of me won out and I ended up picking up just two shadows.  I purchased Humid and Rosy Outlook because to me, they seemed the most wearable out of the bunch.

Lastly, I picked up this flowy blouse from New York & Company.  At the location I visited, they were having a sale for 50% off some of their items.  I was hesitant to try this on at first because on the tag it was sized XS (I am definitely not size XS normally), but I think their sizes run a bit large and this ended up working out really well.  I thought the embroidery was really pretty and I think this will look cute paired with a belt and tights/leggings/shorts.  The material is also very light, so this can definitely be worn in the summer still (which I am very excited about).

Comment below if you have any questions about the haul and let me know if you have suggestions/ideas on how to use bright, matte China Glaze polishes.

Hope you all have a lovely start to your weekend!

XOXO
